Do you need to apostille your Car Title?
Has your car been stolen / recovered in another country and you need to apostille the car title? Have you sold your car to a buyer in a foreign country and he/she is asking for you to sign the car title, have it notarized with an apostille? Are you planning to ship your car to a foreign country and need to register it there? Are you a foreign buyer and have purchased a car from the United States?
In order to obtain an apostille on a car title, it must be signed and notarized. If you are selling your car, all you have to do is meet with a notary public and have your signature signed and notarized. If you are not selling your car, simply make a color copy of your car title and meet with a local notary public. You can write out an affidavit and attach it to the color copy attesting that the copy is a true copy of the original in your possession (AKA: Copy certification by document custodian). In some states, a notary can copy certify your car title without you being present. Please check with the notary.
Are you currently outside of the U.S. and you are a U.S. Citizen? Please visit the closest U.S. Embassy to meet with a notary there. Please contact the Embassy before as most notarization are by appointment.
