Do you need to apostille your diploma for the UAE (United Arab Emirates)?
As of the date of this post, the UAE Embassy is not a member of the Hague Apostille Convention. In order to legalize your diploma for the UAE, it will need to be certified through the state, the US Department of State in Washington, D.C., and the UAE Embassy in Washington, D.C. We are hoping the UAE will join the Hague Apostille Convention in the near future but in the meantime, it is a three step process.
Certifying and legalizing documents for countries who are non-members of the Hague Apostille Convention require additional steps to complete.
These additional steps include State certification, US Department of State certification, and Embassy or Consulate legalization. These three steps are commonly referred to as the “Legalization Process“.
The UAE Embassy requests the following:
The educational institution must be located in the U.S and regionally accredited by NEASC (CIHE), MSA (CHE), NCA (HLC), SACS (COC), NWCCU, or WASC (ACCJC-ACSCU).
To show proof of regional accreditation, please visit the Council for Higher Education Accreditation website https://www.chea.org and print your institution’s accreditation information.
