Do you need to apostille a Utility Bill?
To prove your residency in the United States, you might be required to apostille your utility bill. A utility bill is a statement that is issued monthly, showing the amount owed by a household or business for essential services such as electricity, gas, and water. In some cases, other services such as sewage, trash and recycling, TV, internet, phone, and streaming services may also be included.
To apostille a utility bill, you need to have the document notarized by a public notary (original or color copy), and then submit it to our office for the apostille to be obtained from the Secretary of State.
Follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Obtain a notarized color copy of the utility bill: You can obtain a copy of your utility bill notarized by a local public notary. You will need to sign the document in the presence of the notary and provide a government-issued ID to confirm your identity.
Step 2: Mail the signed and notarized utility bill, along with our order forms, for processing. Contact our office for the most recent processing time and availability.
Step 3: Wait for the apostille certificate: Once you have submitted your application and documents to our office, we will complete the process through the Secretary of State’s office, and send it back to you via FedEx. The processing time can vary depending on the state.
Once you have obtained the apostille certificate for your utility bill, it will be considered a legally valid document in countries that are part of the Hague Apostille Convention.
Obtaining an apostille on a utility bill can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your paperwork could be rejected costing you time and money. Don’t let this happen to you!
