The FBI background check is a Federal document and can only processed in Washington DC. The FBI background check is not notarized nor processed through any state office (Example: California Secretary of State). Depending on how you received your FBI background check, you can either email it to our office or mail it to our Washington DC office. An FBI background check that is mailed to your home is typically printed on special tamper resistant paper. Another word, when you try to make a copy of this document, it will say “Copy” or “Void”. Also, an FBI background check does not expire, but the country requesting it may have a time limit on how old it can be. For most countries, it’s three months.
How do I obtain my FBI background check?

There are two ways you can obtain your background check from the FBI Channeler or FBI.

What is the difference between a digital FBI background check and one printed on tamper resistant paper?
The FBI background check can either be emailed to you in PDF format or mailed to your home. You can also request both. The difference is one is printed on special tamper resistant paper and the other is a color copy. You can email us the digital FBI background check in PDF format with the our completed order forms. The tamper resistant paper must be mailed in to our office in Washington D.C. As of the date of this article, 97% of the FBI background checks we receive are emailed to our office.
